With the protocol signed between Kilis Governorate, GAP Regional Development Administration and Kilis Organic Olive Producers Association in February 2013, efforts were initiated to increase the added value, profitability, social and economic benefits and competitiveness of organic olives produced in Kilis.
To achieve the value they deserve with the sale of organic olives produced in Kilis as branded and packaged, to act together with farmers in a common ideal, to increase the production of organic certified products in the region, to establish the infrastructure in which future product range can be increased and to create the added value to remain in the region will be opened.
After the feasibility and business plans prepared within the scope of the project; Architectural, static and electrical projects were prepared and the tender was started. Work has started for the establishment of the Organic Olive Processing, Packaging and Storage Facility with a 500 m2 closed area on an area of 12.000 m2 owned by the in Kilis Kocabeyli Village. The facility, which has 80 tons / day olive processing and 150 tons olive oil storage capacity, is planned to be established as an integrated facility with administrative building, continuous system olive processing unit, packaging unit and storage unit. The facility, which cost approximately 1.7 million TL, was put into operation in the 2014 season (October-December).
The project proposal for the olive processing (continuous system) machine park submitted by the Union to the İpekyolu Development Agency, which is currently outside the scope of the support provided by the GAP Administration, was evaluated positively by the Agency and was eligible for the 2014 financial support program. It is planned that the said machine park will be located at the facility in accordance with the construction process deadline plan.
